Frequently Asked Questions

The short answer is, practically nothing. Now obviously they are different colors, but in terms of durability or performance, there is no functioning difference between the red and black polyurethane bushing. There are a few select bushings that have graphite added for a lubrication property, but these are isolated in the hardest durometer bushings. So for the majority of bushings, there is no difference between black or red, except the color.

The short answer, polyurethane is firmer and more durable than the OE rubber. With a durable polyurethane part, there is little flexing in the bushing which maintains the suspension alignment and performance. Sadly, it happens. With the massive amount of vehicles out there, and the numerous bushings that make up each vehicle, there are some gaps in coverage. But don't fret! Great Question! It is super important to lubricate polyurethane bushings during installation to avoid any squeaking issues. Energy Suspension developed their own lube to go along with their bushings, Formula 5. Be sure to use plenty of grease during installation, there is no such thing as too much grease here.

Energy Suspension designs their bushings with the DIY'er in mind. So a good number of parts can be installed in your driveway as long as you have the time and proper tools. Some bushings are tough, so it may be best to have them professionally done. However, if you want to do it yourself, each bushing set includes installation instructions helping you do get the job done.
