Body Mount Bushings Explorer Sport Trac 01-05 | 2WD 4WD
If the original body mount bushings on your 01-05 Sport Trac are worn or crushed, Prothane offers a polyurethane body mount bushings kit which will last the life of your Explorer. This complete body mount kit will replace all of the factory bushings on your Ford and make a solid connection between the body and the frame.
The OE (Original Equipment) body mount bushings on your Sport Trac are made of rubber, or in some cases foam, which is great at absorbing vibrations but doesn't hold up to the wear and tear of daily driving. Eventually, they will need to be replaced, but instead of installing more OE body mounts that are destined to fail you could use durable, longer lasting polyurethane body mounts.
Worn Body Mount Problems
The original rubber, or foam, bushings soak up a lot of the noise and vibrations that driving can cause, but they accomplish this by flexing. Like a rubber band, the more stress (flex) those bushings go through the shorter their lifespan. That doesn't even take into account how weather and other elements can degrade those parts till they're cracked and crumbling, and if one of your bushings is degrading then the others aren't far behind.
Worn body mounts can also leave your body and frame misaligned...If your Ford's body is sagging on one side then the bushings are likely already worn and maybe about ready to fail completely and fall off. Worn body mounts can also leave your body and frame misaligned and cause difficulty shutting or opening your doors or hood.
Long-Lasting Body Alignment
A great alternative to OE rubber is polyurethane body mount bushings and Prothane offers a Made in the USA option. Polyurethane is a tough material and doesn't flex like rubber meaning a longer life. Weather, auto chemicals, and wear won't degrade these bushings and Prothane backs that up with a lifetime warranty.
These bushings can transfer more vibration from the road, but when you weigh that against the alignment-holding durability poly bushings they look pretty good. If you're looking for a way to keep the body of your Sport Trac aligned for life, Prothane's polyurethane body mounts are a great option.

- Does the body mount kit 6-116 come with the hardware (ie bolts, nuts, washers etc) or is the original hardware supposed to be reused? Also the 2 flat gold washers mentioned in the listing. Are they for 1 specific mount location or does it mean 2 per mount for a total of 16?

This kit is designed to reuse your original hardware on your Sport Trac. If for some reason you need to replace some of that hardware, you can typically find a suitable replacement at the local hardware store. Just ask them for Grade 8 hardware. I If you can get zinc plated hardware, that will keep it from corroding in the future.
Concerning the 2 included washers. They are gold colored because they are zinc plated. There are only 2 of them. They are used in the front position. You can see in better detail where they are used by taking a look at the installation instructions I've linked you to under "Suggested Information"
